PM: Government works to reduce impact of sanctions on Russia
MOSCOW, Mar 21 (PRIME) -- The government is working to reduce the impact of sanctions on the Russian economy and ensuring that Russians can buy the usual goods is vital, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Monday at a meeting with the deputy prime ministers.
“The government continues working on reduction of the sanctions impact on our economy. As logistics and trade chains are disrupted, helping people to maintain access to the usual goods and the ability to buy them regardless of restrictions from the unfriendly countries is necessary. We are actively cooperating with the partners in the Eurasian Economic Union to achieve that,” he said.
He also said that the Russian authorities should provide immediate help to farmers if the weather worsens significantly, because protection of the internal food and agriculture market is vital. All Russia’s rural territories projects should be fulfilled on time without delay, he said.
Development of the Northern Sea Route is important. The president earlier ordered to raise cargo traffic through the route to 80 million tonnes in 2024 from 35 million tonnes in 2021, and there is demand from businesses, Mishustin said.
